The Chautauqua Cyclecar

Chautauqua Cyclecar

This fascinating project involved in-depth research to verify whether a client’s antique vehicle was an authentic Chautauqua Cyclecar—a rare and short-lived automobile produced in the early 20th century. I explored the car’s ownership history and dug into the local auto industry in western New York, focusing on entrepreneur Harry J. Newman and his manufacturing ventures. Using a mix of local history repositories, vintage trade publications, and lesser-known archival sources, I pieced together evidence to support the car’s origins. I also provided leads for further research, including specialized contacts and resources within the antique automobile community. This project highlights my creative research strategies and deep knowledge of local historical collections.
